Although we had a nice time it was a little bit strange to see so quiet New year celebration in the city that has shops and bars open long hours every night and a crowd of people on the streets every night. Wish I’ve red your article before I went there. Anyway this Edinburgh thing sounds nice, will make a note for next year:-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874137447740219052.post-80218984008224118912011-01-03T18:38:45.621+01:002011-01-03T18:38:45.621+01:00God with the writers prose although a lovely artic...God with the writers prose although a lovely article you make it sound like we had an awful night only correcting the readers assumption in the finally. Strange that there would not be restaurants or bars open, but I guess that they all want to share in the New Year's fun...
Wishing you a great 2011!!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06923613028048879472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874137447740219052.post-18810156995365067382011-01-01T23:00:47.588+01:002011-01-01T23:00:47.588+01:00Feliz 2011! We had to rush home before the midnight bells began to ring to comfort our dogs who almost shake their way to heat attacks when the air around them is suddenly filled with huge explosions and the smells of burning. We are always puzzled by the authorities here in England that every year do their best to discourage the population from venturing out to watch the display asking us to watch on TV instead!!Marynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874137447740219052.post-50861702082245649182011-01-01T15:47:20.371+01:002011-01-01T15:47:20.371+01:00Here in Phoenix, we were asleep before 10:00 p.m. ...Here in Phoenix, we were asleep before 10:00 p.m. We did watch the Fiesta Bowl Parade during the day Friday and today are heading out soon for the 5KM First Run of the New Year.

Feliz Ano Nuevo a todos.Sherpa Tomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10872916562511309808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874137447740219052.post-17918573459522585592011-01-01T15:12:29.991+01:002011-01-01T15:12:29.991+01:00I'm torn between being disappointed on your be...I'm torn between being disappointed on your behalf for the lack of fireworks and being understanding that in a time of economic crisis, maybe effectively setting fire to rather a lot of money isn't a particularly good idea.

I thought exactly that when watching the London fireworks last night (on TV, of course) - it was a great display, probably the best I've seen and yet my flatmate and I kept commenting on how much it must have cost. I must admit I don't even know who actually pays for it - a London council, central government, a combination of private companies? No idea. But such an extravagant display to mark the turning of one financially disastrous year into probably another one does stick in the craw a little.Emhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17327376265492188965noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3874137447740219052.post-90216375603291719792011-01-01T14:58:56.688+01:002011-01-01T14:58:56.688+01:00Great post and looks like you guys had fun.
